An amazing Middle Eastern dip that goes well with pita bread and veggies. It’s been a hit at any event I’ve served it at.
Ingredients
- 1 large roasted sweet red peppers you can find this canned in most grocery stores
- 2 cups walnuts, almonds or pine nuts chopped
- 1/3 cup bread crumbs ground fine
- 2/3 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 2 tbsp Onions finely minced
- 1 tbsp grenandine syrup or pomegrate molasses
- 1 1/2 tsp chaimen see below for recipe
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 1 part Allspice it's easiest to make a large batch of chaimen and store in your spice cupboard
- 1 part cayenne pepper
- 1 part fenugreek
- 1 part cumin
- 2 parts Paprika
- 1 part Cinnamon optional

Instructions
- Make chaimen spice mix ahead of time and store in a sealed container in your spice cupboard.
- Put all ingredients into a food processor and pulse the mixture until everything is well mixed but not pureed. You want the mixture to have a course texture.
- Spread into a shallow dish and sprinkle lightly with olive oil and garnish with fresh parsely or pine nutes if desired.
- Let sit, chilled for about 1 hour to allow for flavour to mature.
- Serve with pita triangles and slices of cucumber.
