Ha! You think Greek yogurt is special. Well, it’s not.
To make Greek yogurt simply strain some of the yogurt you already made (yogurt making recipe).
Use this strained yogurt for:
- frozen yogurt
- salad dressing
- instead of sour cream
- you will think of many more ideas!
You’ll need cheese cloth for this. Make sure you don’t buy bleached cheese cloth… It’s sold at stores like Community Foods. You can wash cheese cloth in the washing maching but make sure you put it in a mesh bag as it will probably unravel. Hang to dry. If it’s not too dirty, just rinse it in the sink and hang to dry.
Instructions
- Line colander with cheese cloth. Use multiple layers (I usually use at least 4). Place colander over a pot or bowl. Add yogurt.
- You'll know you've done it right if the liquid draining out is clear.
- It's done when you say it's done. Usually for frozen yogurt I let it drain about 5 or 6 hours. It just depends what consistency you want.
