These crakers are fun to make as you get to use cookie cutters! Of course, you can also just use a pizza wheel or something similar to cut rectangles… I have more fun with animals. 😉
The toppings you can use are endless. Try anything!
flour Use at least 1 Cup of unbleached white flour. The other cup use what you prefer (whole wheat, rye, etc.)
Water I use milk or buttermilk instead!
Toppings Salt chunks, sesame, poppy, rosemary, cheese...
Combine the flour, sugar, salt and butter in the bowl of a food processor and pulse until well blended. Add the water or milk and pulse until you have a soft dough.
On a lightly floured surface, roll the dought out about 1/8" think. Sprink with any toppings you like and roll gently with the rolling pin to help the toppings stick.
Reroll the scraps only as a last resort. More rolling makes the dough tough.
Cut into shapes! Use anything from cookie cutters to a pizza wheel.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden. Let cool and place in a sealed container.
